Zeitfuchs Cross-Arm Viscometer For Transparent and Opaque Liquids

The Cross – Arm operates differently than the modified Ostwald and suspended-level designs in that the liquid sample is caused to flow through a capillary restrictor, and then volumetric timing bulb which is clean and dry, and has not previously been wetted by the sample. For this reason, only one timing may be done per sample. In order to repeat a test, the tube must be thoroughly cleaned with solvent(s) and dried. Approximately 1-3ml of sample is introduced into large tube from top without wetting the sides of the tube, until level in cross– arm reaches just below fill line, G. After 30 minutes of equilibration in a bath, a slight suction will cause liquid to flow over the top curve, downward through capillary, and then up through the timing bulb with marks. This viscometer can be supplied with round metal holder permanently mounted, to fit 2” hole in the bath. To order, specify above catalog number and add “WH”.

Bath depth required: 9”
